Pygora Kids and Grass

The grazing season is in full swing and the kids are enjoying it immensely!  My buck and wether have surprised me this season by keeping the stinging nettles to which they have access trimmed down.  This is a first and I wish all my critters did that!

The four bucklings are now four wethers (they are neutered); the sites where they had been disbudded (horn buds removed) have healed over nicely.

I have updated the Pygora page a little, including pricing.

Pygora Kids Update

Lots of information about the kids and their parents has been added to the Pygora Goats for Sale Page.  There's still more to add: I want to say more about my herd in general, and to add helpful information about Pygora fiber and what the individual micron counts mean.

I always miss the best photo opportunities, but here's a keeper from this morning:

Pygora Babies

The babies started arriving 22 March.  Tina had a set of twins on that day, and Tulip delivered 23 March.  I had planned for kids to arrive late April/early May but my buck had different plans and his persistence paid off!  So far, it's all boys!  They have been disbudded already; neutering will be postponed.

It's likely that any kids that Lily produces will arrive on my schedule: late April/early May.  More details will appear on the Pygora Goats for Sale Page.

Baaay State Blankets

I am a participating shepherd in the Baaay State Blanket program this year, offering lovely throws as well as scarves.  I've dedicated a full page about this here.  Holidays, weddings, birthdays... these make wonderful locally-produced gifts.  So lovely... can't wait to have mine!

Another Pygora Baby Video

I brought my iPad with me when I made my first visit of the day to the mamas and babies.  Enjoy it!

Weaving on a Spriggs Adjustable Rectangular Loom

I recently acquired a Spriggs seven foot adjustable rectangular loom.  This loom is designed to be worked diagonally with one continuous strand of yarn.  For my first project on the loom, using some of my earliest hand-spun yarn, I opted to use my own method, as described here.
